Abdallah Soufan is a scholar of Arabic and Islamic studies. Previously, he served as a Research Associate at the Orient-Institut Beirut (OIB) in Lebanon, where he directed doctoral and post-doctoral fellowship programs and served as Editor of the Beiruter Texte und Studien (BTS) academic book series.
With a rich teaching background, Abdallah has taught a diverse range of courses at institutions including Saint Joseph University, Lebanese American University, and American University of Beirut. His teaching expertise spans from Advanced Classical Arabic Grammar to Islamic Theology and Sects, reflecting his commitment to imparting knowledge across various aspects of Arabic and Islamic studies.
At the University of Chicago, he teaches courses in the Arabic language program and in areas of Arabic culture. He also mentors undergraduate and graduate students in the BA and MA programs in the Department.
