Dr. Altıntaş defended his UChicago dissertation on "Crisis and (Dis)Order: Armenian Revolutionaries and the Hamidian Regime in the Ottoman Empire, 1887-1896," advised by NELC Prof. Holly Shissler in June 2018. He joins the EUME's team in the project "Integration and Minoritization: Governing Hierarchies in the Late Ottoman Empire." Since completing his doctorate, Dr. Altıntaş has taught Middle Eastern history and Ottoman language and paleography at Bilgi and Boğaziçi Universities, before receiving the EUME Fellowship, during which he will be affiliated with the Center for Global History at Freie Universität Berlin.
