I received my Ph.D. in media studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009. My doctoral research examined independent Islamic satellite television in the Middle East, and I continue to work on global Muslim media and creative expression. My primary role at the University is Associate Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
