نرحب هذا الأسبوع بسلطان العمري وهو طالب ماجستير في الشؤون الدولية و الاقتصاد الدولي في جامعة كاليفورنيا سان دييغو وهو حاصل على ماجستير في دراسات العمالة وبكالوريس في الاقتصاد المالي. عمل سلطان كمساعد مشاريع في مكتب اليونيسكو في الأردن حين عمل المكتب مع وزارة التخطيط و العلاقات الدولية. كان سلطان أيضاً باحث أول في رابطة المحامين الأمريكية، حيث كان يبحث في انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان المتعلقة بالاتجار بالبشر المتصلة بالعمالة المنزلية. هو مهتم بسياسات الاقتصاد، علم الاجتماع والفكرالتقدمي.
سيقدم سلطان محاضرة بعنوان الباروميتر العربي والجندر.

This week we welcome Sultan Omari, a labor economist with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics and a Master of Arts degree in Labor Studies. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in International Affairs with a concentration in International Economics at UC San Diego. Sultan worked as a Project Assistant at UNESCO offices in Jordan while being stationed at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. Prior to his current enrollment at UCSD, Sultan was a senior researcher at the American Bar Association (ABA) in Amman, whereby he researched human rights violations brought by human trafficking of domestic workers. He is interested in political economic theory, sociology, and progressive thought.
Sultan will be giving a presentation titled The Arab Gender Barometer.
