هذا الأسبوع يسرنا أن نستضيف الدكتور حسين عبدالساتر الذي سيلقي لنا محاضرة بعنوان الدين والمجتمع في الجاحظ
الدكتور عبدالساتر أستاذ الثقافة العربية والدراسات الاسلامية في جامعة نوتر دام حيث يعمل كمدير برنامج التخصص الثانوي لدراسات الشرق الاوسط وشمال افريقيا. يركز بحثه على التاريخ الفكري الاسلامي، وخاصة نشوء المذاهب، وتشكيل الهويات الطرفية، وانماط العقلانية المختلفة وتمثلاتها في علم اللاهوت الاسلامي وفي الادب العربي. سيصدر له احدث منشوراته عن دار نشر جامعة ادنبورة بعنوان الجاحظ ومعارف الدين: العقلانية الاسلامية المنسية

This week, we are delighted to host Dr. Hussein Abdulsater from the University of Notre Dame, who will give a lecture titled “Religion and Society in al-Jāḥiẓ”
Dr. Abdulsater is associate professor of Arabic Culture and Islamic Studies at the University of Notre Dame, where he also serves as the director of the Middle Eastern and North African Studies Minor. His research focuses on Islamic intellectual history, particularly the development of theological schools, the formation of sectarian identities and the various modes of rationalism as expressed in Islamic theology and Arabic literature. His latest book is forthcoming with Edinburgh University Press, titled The Theology of al-Jāḥiẓ: A Forgotten Islamic Rationalism.
