نرحب هذا الأسبوع بالدكتور روبين بيت شموئيل. الدكتور بيت شموئيل أستاذ في الشعر واللغة السيريانية وكاتب ومترجم وله العديد من الدراسات والمقالات باللغات السيريانية والعربية والانجليزية. بيت شموئيل حاصل على الدكتوراه في اللغة السيريانية وآدابها من الجامعة اللبنانية وقد عمل مهندس في شركة نفط شمال الكركوك، وأستاذ اللغة السيرانية في جامعة بغداد ومحاضر لمادة الشعر في قسم اللغة السيريانية في جامعة صلاح الدين في أربيل. هو أيضاً نائب رئيس التحرير في مجلة سيمثا الصادرة في دهوك وعمل مدير عام الثقافة والفنون السيريانية في حكومة إقليم كوردستان (2016-2021). ترجم العديد من الكتب إلى السيريانية مثل كتاب "النبي" لجبران خليل جبران ونشر ديوان شعر بعنوان "دالوفي" (2008) ومجموعة نصوص أدبية وقصصية "أحلام تبحث عن رأس" (2009).

Please join us this Friday, January 20th at 3pm (Central Time) for the Arabic Circle in Pick Hall 218 (light snacks will be served) or over Zoom.
We will be welcoming Dr. Robin Bet-Shmuel, a writer, translator and instructor of Syriac and of Syriac poetry. Dr. Bet-Shmuel received his doctorate in Syriac Language and Literature from the Lebanese University. He has translated several books into Syriac including Jubran Khalil Jubran's The Prophet and has authored many books including his poetry collection Dalope (2008), and his collection of literary texts and short stories Dreams in Search of a Head (2009). Bet-Shmuel has worked as an engineer, an instructor of Syriac in the University of Baghdad, a lecturer of Syriac poetry in Salahaddin University.
Dr. Robin Bet-Shmuel will be giving a talk titled "Sargon Boulus: An Iraqi Poet"
