Please join us Wednesday, November 6th, at 4:30pm, in Pick 218 for a presentation by Naeemeh Naeemaei  titled "Where is Omid? Where is Hope?: Folklore and Ecological Elegy".

Naeemeh Naeemaei is an interdisciplinary artist focusing on eco-centric art. She earned her degree in Sculpture from the Tehran University of Art and is currently based in Chicago. Naeemaei’s paintings are rich, multilayered narratives that weave together childhood memories, personal experiences, and elements of classic Iranian literature with folk and oral history, grounded in environmental science and geographical features. Her acclaimed series, Dreams Before Extinction, focuses on Iran’s endangered species and was first published by Perceval Press in the U.S. in 2013, later exhibited at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in Oregon. Her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions and featured in various magazines and journals worldwide. In her presentation, she will explore the creative process behind two of her painting series, Dreams Before Extinction and Mina and the Leopard.
