Please join us on Wednesday, January 29 at 4:30-6:00 in Pick 222 for a presentation by Golrokh Nafisi titled "Weaving a Common Map". Golrokh Nafisi is a Children's book illustrator, animator, and puppet maker engaged in the contemporary conceptual art scene. In her works, she covers daily events, the lives of ordinary people, and the politics of the societies she lives in. In her artistic practice, Golrokh explores the formation of special moments when the cohesion among people gives rise to a collective politics. These political moments can occur when people come together with a shared objective or stem from the repetition of an old ritual and aesthetic, where individuals gather, and the outcome of their togetherness becomes greater than the sum of their parts. Using various artistic methods, she actively involves her audience in the process, particularly through hands-on work. By arranging their creations side by side, she crafts a collective aesthetic that resonates uniquely with each individual. In this presentation, she will discuss some of her projects that have been shaped by the audience's active participation over the last 5 years.
