Ameena Yovan is a Ph.D. student in the department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago. She received her MA in Middle East and North African Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Ameena’s research interests intersect at the history of sectarianism, political and economic power, and historical literature in the early Islamic period.
The title of her talk is “‘Three thousand coin, a maidservant, a manservant’: Qaṭām in Narratives of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib's Assassination.”
