هذا الأسبوع يسرنا أن نستضيف الدكتورة راوية حايك،  التي ستلقي لنا محاضرة بعنوان تمثيل اللغة العربية في الحيز العام الإسرائيلي  

الدكتورة حايك محاضرة ومستشارة تربوية في قسم الانجليزي في كلية سخنين الاكاديمي لتأهيل المعلمين في إسرائيل. حصلت على درجة الدكتورة من جامعة انديانا حيث ركز بحثها على استخدام أدب الأطفال الذي يتناول مواضيع الجنس، والتنوع الديني وقضايا الاقليات مع طلاب عرب-إسرائيليين الذين يدرسون اللغة الانجليزية كنقطة انطلاق لردود القراء النقدية. يستكشف بحثها الحديث استخدام تصوير وثائقي مع طلاب جامعيين لمواجهة قضايا العدالة الاجتماعية ومشاكل في المشهد اللغوي في الجليل.  

الندوة العربية تُرحّب بجميع الطلاب من شتّى المستويات، كما ترحّب بكل من يحب اللغة العربية. نتمنى أن نراكم قريباً إن شاء الله! لا تترددوا في التواصل معنا إن كانت لديكم أي اقتراحات

This week, we welcome Dr. Rawia Hayik over Zoom, who will give a lecture titled “Representations of Arabic in the Israeli Public Sphere.” 

Dr. Hayik is a lecturer and pedagogical advisor in the English Department at Sakhnin Academic College for Teacher Education, Israel. She is a recent PhD graduate from the Literacy, Culture, and Language Education Department at Indiana University in the United States. Her PhD research focused on using children’s literature on gender, religious diversity, and minority issues with Israeli-Arab EFL students as a springboard for critical reader responses. Her post-doctoral research explores the use of participatory documentary photography with college students to address social justice issues and problems in the linguistic landscape in the Galilee area. 

Arabic Circle welcomes students of all levels of Arabic, and all who love the Arabic language. We hope to see you in person this week for a cheeseboard and Moroccan mint tea. Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or comments!
